Van Gogh & Cézanne in Provence 2024

עברית

Come with us for an enchanting week in the South of France where Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne painted so many of their masterpieces.

Van Gogh and Cézanne called Provence their home. They were captivated by the light very special that is found there, and they spent their careers painting it in their own way. In doing so, these artists broke new ground for all of us that have come after them. By pushing artistic boundaries they gave the world the gift of seeing the world in a new way.

We have those that are daily painters and those that are very new to painting.
Experience has shown us that as we work side by side with others that the adventure becomes very rich for all involved.

I don’t know what you’re expecting… but… Tali is wonderful. It was an uplifting experience. Which included everything from everything. Tours to meet other local artists, very special, staying in nature, a great group, and for me, it was a journey into myself. I had fun. I am considering traveling with her to another retreat. She had another teacher with her named Royce. He’s pretty awesome too. Attentive to group needs, with requests. And the hotel was perfect and pleasant. In short – pamper yourself – a truly memorable experience.
It’s an opportunity to meet creative worlds, you’ll see people there who have been painting for many years and will probably reach very impressive “results”… this happened to me too… frustrating, I admit, but why miss an opportunity to celebrate art in a way that you wouldn’t do it alone… you probably can continue the work you do there when you return… I have no interest in marketing, but I highly recommend it. Travel with an open and curious mind.

“First of all-I want to thank Tali and Royce for an unforgettable week. As an instructor myself- I know that the personality of the instructors is one of the most important contributors to the success of a workshop. Tali and Royce I love you!!!!
You are such a beautiful, gentle, modest, and human person. That is besides your talent and passion’ curiosity and experimental and open mind which are vital in my eyes. Thank you so so much!!
–Ilana from Israel

“I am part of a Vincent VanGogh group on Facebook called VanGogh Inspires. Back in February of this year, I read about the Artist’s Table retreat the day after I saw the film Eternity’s Gate on this Facebook group. I immediately contacted Royce and Tali to see if they would let someone who was not an artist accompany them on their trip to Provence to walk in the footsteps of Van Gogh and Cezanne. They welcomed me with open arms. I had such a fabulous time on this trip. Not only did they take me to magical places, they also inspired me to create a few paintings of my own. I had a great time.  They also prepared home-cooked meals that were works of art themselves. I highly recommend a retreat with Royce and Tali for creating art and memories that will last a lifetime.”
–Annie from Chicago

A retreat in every sense of the word. A real getaway from it all. My very first retreat with a bunch of incredible people from all over the globe; and what an exuberant experience it was — just soaking in the atmosphere of the countryside that a city dweller like me needed, but most of all, doing what I love best!
–Belinda from Singapore

It was an awesome week that I spent on the Beaver Island during August 2016 with Tali & Royce and a bunch of other lovely folks!! An experience I won’t forget for a lifetime. There was lot of learning and sharing during the retreat, something that I have not done before. This is a great concept by Tali & Royce and they are awesome guys with lot of innovative ideas and concepts. Am already looking forward to the next retreat!!!

The ArtisTTable is operated by two artists, Royce Deans, from Michigan, USA, and Tali Farchi, from the Netherlands.
Since this year Royce stepped away from the ArtisTTable and a new force came from the other side of the ocean. An excellent Plein Air Artist and instructor from Israel: Shay Avivi.

Your hosts, Tali Farchi & Shay Avivi

Tali Farchi
Tali started her professional art training in Amsterdam at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in the field of animation. From there she worked on many projects from Sesame Street to feature-length films. Her career as an animator and art director gave way to art projects involving multi-media, and multi-disciplines that included working with dancers, musicians, poets, choirs, and orchestras. Her ability to think and work fast has been one of her greatest assets when it comes to the improvisational nature of the types of paintings she would create in these situations. More recently, she has taken to the much more quiet environment of painting the landscape. It is easy to recognize the vast experience she has had when you look at her work.

Tali’s main focus of late has been painting the landscape with acrylic and with oil pastels. Typically she chooses to work with each of these mediums while she is on location. When working with Tali, you can expect that she will be able to help you pull your creativity directly from your heart and soul. Her enthusiasm for unlimited creative solutions is contagious. Whether hearing her comments on your work to watching one of her oil pastel demonstrations, you are sure to catch some of that from her.

The instruction we offer comes in the form of painting demonstrations and personal instruction that is tailored to the individual’s needs. One of our goals aside from taking you to amazing places to work is to help you see your subject matter in a whole new way. Instruction is optional, although we are always available and willing to help and assist in any way that we can.

Both Van Gogh and Cézanne had similar approaches to painting in that they were driven to paint in a non-stop fashion. There is no shortage of reasons to be interested in Vincent’s paintings, the way he applied paint and used color has fascinated all of us. Cézanne on the other hand has become a real painter’s painter. In fact, it is interesting to note that Pablo Picasso said about Cézanne, “Cézanne was my one and only master…He was like the father of us all.”

“The beauty of the retreats is that on top of everything they offer—the landscapes, the workshops, the guidance—there’s always something entirely unexpected to be found: a new medium you never thought you’d use, a wave of inspiration, or a friendship for love. Tali and Royce offer all the space for growth and relaxation, as well as so many opportunities you never thought you’d take. Every retreat is an adventure and a journey to remember!”
–Yael from The Netherlands

“Re-learning to simply sketch turned out to be a gift in which I continue to pursue. Using quick sketches helped me to loosen up my technique. The collective meals were a great way to end each day at dinner together. Also, learning from other artists from several parts of the world with a variety of experience levels, and Tali and Royce are fabulous artists to learn from, we are still connected.”
–Cas from Texas
